Many people believe that you have to be young and fit to learn Taekwon-Do. This is not the case: Taekwon-Do is for anybody and everybody. It is with this principle in mind that I am dedicated to teach the art of Taekwon-Do in a family-friendly atmosphere with a philosophy of courtesy and cooperation.
Whilst Taekwon-Do is an exciting and interesting form of self-defence, it can also be a life changing experience for many people. After six weeks of the beginner’s course, you will notice a change in not just your figure and shape, but also in your confidence and awareness of your surroundings. You will begin to understand that Taekwon-do has so much to offer: both physically and mentally – not only developing the body, but one’s character as well.
I opened the Letchworth Taekwon-Do School in 2003 and the Biggleswade Taekwon-Do School in 2007.The clubs have gone from strength to strength with both now having many registered members and Black Belts. The clubs have both seen success with many National Champions rising from the ranks. Both Letchworth and Biggleswade Taekwon-Do schools are also run and assisted by Mrs Kirsty Owen V degree black belt.
I started training in Taekwon-Do in the mid 1990’s and obtained my VI degree black belt in 2017. I have attended many of the late Grandmaster Choi Hong Hi’s seminars and international Instructors courses and more recently Grandmaster Choi Jung Hwa 9th Dan (Grandmaster Choi's son) to enable us to teach the true techniques without distortion as once taught by the founder the late General Choi Hong Hi IXth Dan.
I am a qualified International Instructor, International Umpire and Grading Examiner. I have also had an enhanced CRB check (police check).
The clubs and myself are recognised by the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF).The clubs are also a member of the United Kingdom International Taekwon-Do Federation (UKITF) and the British Taekwon-Do Council (BTC) which is recognised by the Sports Council.
